Isabella Østenby Vesti

Founder,  Artistic Director

Isabella Østenby Vesti is the founder and artistic director of Nordic Piccolo Festival (NPF). She has a Masters degree from The Royal Danish Academy of Music where she studied under some of the best flutist in Denmark. e.g. Anna Dina Bjørn Larsen, Thomas Jensen, Russel Itani and a post-graduate degree from The Danish National Academy of Music in Odense with the piccolo flute as her main instrument. She has already played with most danish orchestras, mainly The Royal Danish Orchestra at The Royal Theater in Copenhagen. When not playing herself, she teaches piccolo flute in the Tivoli Youth Guard.

During her studies she has traveled extensively to take lessons with some of the most prominent piccolo players in Europe, among others Vincent Cortvrint (Amsterdam Concertgebouw), Michael Hasel (Berliner Philharmonie) and lastly Nicola Mazzanti at the International Piccolo Festival in Italy, which was the initial inspiration for NPF.

Through her travelling she realized how little is known about the art of playing piccolo in Denmark as well as the Northern countries in general. Her goal now is to spark interest in the piccolo by sharing knowledge and enthusiasm, and by creating a positive learning environment for piccolo flutists in the North.
